TRLabs is Canada's largest research consortium (industry, university, government) in information and communications technology. TRLabs operates five laboratories in Western Canada where university professors, graduate students, industrial partners and staff researchers work together to conduct applied research in seven Research Divisions.
The research program is based on industry/university collaboration. Industry sets the direction of the program, specifying general areas of interest, and contributes investment, equipment and research personnel. Universities contribute professors and students - who undertake research projects within the Research Divisions.
TRLabs hosts several conferences and workshops annually to facilitate knowledge transfer to our member organizations. Conferences provide a forum for participants to obtain in-depth knowledge in specific areas and to network and exchange ideas with each other.
TRLabs' research program generates new technologies and intellectual property - shared non-exclusively if the project lies within the Pooled Research Program. A project conducted within the Subscribed Research Program can have any number of IP considerations.
